San Diego County Fair at Del Mar: Parking vs. Booking Group Transportation

Del Mar Fair parking is a hot topic every summer when the San Diego County Fair opens at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The fair brings rides, food, livestock shows, and concerts, and it draws big crowds from across the region. With so many people arriving at once, parking and traffic along I-5 near Del Mar can be a real challenge, especially on weekends.

The fairgrounds offer on-site parking on many days, and off-site lots with shuttles are often available too. Rules, hours, and lot options can change each season, so visitors should check the fair’s official website before they go. Arriving early in the day usually means shorter lines and a better spot.

Families with young kids face extra challenges. Strollers, snacks, sunscreen, and tired children make long walks from far lots harder at the end of the day. For groups like scout troops, church groups, or family reunions, getting several cars into the lot and finding each other inside can take a lot of time.

A shared ride can make the day easier. One vehicle picks the group up, drops everyone near the entrance, and returns at a set time. Nobody has to drive home after a long, hot day, and the group stays together from start to finish. This works well for evening concerts at the fair, too, when traffic leaving the grounds can be slow.

Del Mar Fair parking is easier with a little prep. Check the lot details. Leave early. Pack light. Or skip the lot and let someone else drive.

For families and groups heading to the fair, Diego Party Bus & Limo offers group rides from across San Diego County that skip the lot entirely.
